Uranus' Moons

it has 27 known moons, all of which are named after characters from the works of William Shakespeare and Alexander Pope. Uranus's moons are divided into three groups: thirteen inner moons, five major moons, and nine irregular moons.

Uranus’s largest moon is Titania with a diameter of 1,577.8 km or 980 miles and a mass of 3.42 x 1021 kg. This makes it the eighth largest moon in our solar system. Titania was discovered on January 11, 1787 by William Herschel. Its distance from Uranus is 436,300 km or 271,104 miles and takes 8.7 Earth days to make 1 complete orbit around Uranus.

On January 11th, 1787,  Herschel observed the moons of Oberon and Titania, six years after discovering Uranus itself. At the time, Herschel claimed to have observed up to six satellites, as well as a ring (these were later discredited). For fifty years, Herschel’s instrument was the only one with which the moons had been seen.
