The Retrograde Rotation of Venus

All planets orbit the sun in the same direction.

Venus has a retrograde rotation; it rotates in the opposite direction just like Uranus, compared to the other six planets. As a result of this, the sun rises from the West on Venus.

Venus rotates backwards on its axis, which corresponds to its orbital direction. This is called retrograde rotation. Although Venus travels in the same direction as the other planets orbiting the sun, either clockwise or anticlockwise, its direction of rotation (spinning on its axis) is in the opposite way.

It is a theory there must have been a collision with Venus and an asteroid or possibly another planet in the past, which lead to its 'retrograde rotation'.
